GM, One of your darlins making the news: January 6, 1999 TAIPEI, TAIWAN, Newsbytes via NewsEdge Corporation : Sometime between the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second quarter of this year, Iomega Corp. will announce a new Zip 250 disk, which is a high-density 250MB disk. Taiwan's Megamedia Corporation is the main overseas OEM manufacturer for Iomega and will begin production of Zip 250 disks in February of this year. The monthly production capacity of the new disks is expected to reach 200,000 to 300,000 units. Although the Zip 250 is expected to eventually become Megamedia's main product, the company will continue producing 3 million units of Zip 100 per month. And...TDK likes it! TDK To Move Into High-Capacity Floppy-Disk Business TOKYO --TDK Corp. is set to enter the high-capacity floppy-disk market with plans to produce and market Zip disks, the high-density format offered by Iomega Corp., as early as fiscal 1999.
