AIT readers selected by Philips Singapore Wednesday Jan 6 1999 Mr. Bernie Ashe reports Ottawa's AIT Corporation has been selected by Philips Singapore Pte Ltd. to provide travel document inspection readers for two separate large system installations in Singapore. The deals have a combined value of nearly $900,000. The first contract will see AIT PV-200 readers installed in the newly refurbished border control point on the Woodlands Causeway linking Singapore and Malaysia. The second deal calls for PV-200 readers to be installed at Singapore's Changi International Airport, also for immigration and border control purposes. The PV-200 reader uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology developed by AIT. Comprising much of AIT's installed base of 15,000 inspection readers worldwide, the PV-200 has evolved as the de facto industry standard against which other OCR readers are measured.
