<What's your prediction for Ligand in the short term and the long term. Are you still a naysayer? Do you have any reason to still be a naysayer?

Bob let me try to answer your questions but I will probably only be asking you more questions that concern me:

Ligand's outlook: It is tough to say because I cannot trust the management of the company. Much depends on what the 4Q earnings report reveals. I have many concerns about Lgnd, many concerning management statements which to date have not come true. Back when 2Q earnings were worse than anticipated, Lgnd responded that it was because many of the milestone payments slipped into the 3 & 4th quarters. Then 3Q earnings came out worse than predicted so I assume the same milestones slipped to 4Q. We shall see (I think Lgnd reports 4Q results on 8 Feb 99). Have you or anyone else heard of Lgnd receiving any milestone payments?

Lgnd said ONTAK was delayed (I think in May98) for administrative reasons. Well its now Jan 99 and those admin reasons have not been resolved with no further comments from Lgnd. Lgnd said Panretin was to be approved by the end of 1998. Again we are in 1999 and no approval. I think the original NDA for Targretin was planned for late 1998. Again still no NDA and we are in 1999.

The early redemption of warrants for certain shareholders is another problem area. Why were these warrants redeemed early? Why was it so important to get the cash when the Elan deal was in place? Why weren't all warrant holders offered this same deal? Just another example of Lgnd doing what they do best(Screwing the shareholder).

Lgnd "being on the prowl for acquisitions" as Niman would say concerns me. Why with the best pipeline in the industry does Lgnd need to acquire other companies? They certainly don't have the cash to develop their pipeline and acquire at the same time. Is management concerned the pipeline is not all its cut out to be? Why is Lgnd's first drug being disputed as to who owns the patent?

Am I a nay-sayer? I would say "no". This title was created by the people on the thread who hype this stock. I am a shareholder and hope the price goes up, but as you can see above I have many concerns that worry me about this stock and only because I do not hype the stock am I labeled a nay-sayer.
