"A Connecticut company had a meter reading system
years ago and failed to get it off the ground! What
reason do we have to believe will succeed this time? "

A number of things.
1. Comverge was obtained from lucent, ( Lucent decuded not to go into AMR after spending more that 20 million$ on R&D . Comverge has pilots with TVA With PSE&G and Con Ed.
The lack of contracts has to do more with the slow progress of deregulation.
But that does not say anything regarding the product.

The AMR is a 2 way communication.
From ececutive in the Utility industry I got feed back that Comverge product is in the top 2 , Among many want to be.

The beat Schlumberger In Bangkok. as well as in Caracas.

The problem with DSSI has been that . DSSI had a number of product that did not deliver their promise. Cybercard was a loss, and PHD made small profit, yet well below expectation.

But note well, DSSI was able to develop these product with no dilution, all was done internally with generated cash flow.....
These for a company with 7 million shares trading at 3$ . with a break value today of more than double.
