Jan. 5 — EchoStar Communications and WebTV Networks are preparing to announce a new generation of set-top box that will combine satellite reception, Internet
browsing and eventually VCR-like recording functions all in one device, MSNBC has learned. The new set-top is tailored for EchoStar's new satellite-TV
subscribers (currently there are about 1.8 million) and could boost WebTV's base of some 700,000 subscribers. The announcement could come by week's end

SSET 's partnership with Media4 is to develop interactive broadband internet technology. Media4 is being bought by DISH., SSET also owns shares of DISH
though they sold some just before reporting .54 earnings last quarter.

broadband satellite networking equipment for personal computers.

SSE Telecom has established a strategic partnership with Media4 in which the two companies are jointly developing low cost interactive technology under a contract
with INTELSAT. SSE Telecom will supply certain satellite transmission products to Media4 in support of this and other projects.
