Yes, once again the stock should squeeze out short sellers around options expiration. It's hard to tell if this will be the cap just yet. I think that as long as the tech sector is roaring ahead AMZN won't drop much. I'ts better to be long on YHOO, AMZN and other darlings until after options expire and after some of the earnings reports come out and are trumped as sign that valuations are justified. Amazon and Yahoo's conference calls should be very interesting this quarter. Earlier in the quarter, Bezos made statements that sales were running 4X over last year. Gross margins guidance was suggested to be flat. Some analysts suggested that because sales were booming that earnings <losses> would end up better than expected. Now the company has said that sales are between 2.5X and 3X last year which means that sales slacked off toward the end of the quarter - a likely result of the end of the Christmas shopping season. And now it looks like losses will be no better than analysts estimated even though there was a lot of sales to distribute costs over. Frankly, I'm surprised that the stock continues to move up and that more analysts don't at least acknowledge the obvious. But then again, this is a consumer mania driven stock and it's best to go with the flow.
