LOS ANGELES, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Setting an online e-commerce record, DVD EXPRESS (www.dvdexpress.com), the Internet's largest video retailer, today announced that the company has sold its one-millionth DVD , in just over a year-and-a-half after the site's launch in April 1997. The company expects to accelerate past the two million mark by Q2 1999. These sales figures clearly establish DVD EXPRESS as a leading video retailer, even when compared to "brick and mortar" operations like the nation's largest home video chains.

Partnerships with leading Web portals like AOL, AltaVista, Infoseek and MSN, have helped account for over 300,000 units sold in the past quarter alone. DVD EXPRESS is currently shipping over 20,000 orders per week, more than ten times the volume of the same period during 1998.

"We are very pleased to validate our business strategy and leadership position with the sale of one million DVDs. We are especially proud to have accomplished this in a relatively short amount of time," said Michael Dubelko, president and founder of DVD EXPRESS. "By expanding our Hollywood studio relationships, leveraging our partnerships and establishing new ones, and continuing to provide the best customer service and product selection on the Web, we expect 1999 to be a banner year. We are now positioned for extraordinary growth as DVD completely replaces VHS as the preferred format for premium home entertainment."
