Dow Jones reported yesterday that KLAC and AMAT saw increased orders in December.

In today's interview on CNBC, Bagley said the following:

Well, we're seeing Samsung as well as Hyundai begin to spend money for capacity expansion. So, certainly they believe that the demand for dynamic RAMs, particularly the leading edge 64 megabit, is going grow substantially in 1999 or a new wouldn't be committing this kind of in vestment to capacity expansion.

I suppose the important question is how strong will demand for DRAM be in '99? The market is discounting strong growth in DRAM demand at this point, so a major pullback in the sector would require actual demand to fall short of this expectation, or a big correction in the overall market.
