The property lies within the Porcupine camp, in the prolific Abitibi Greenstone belt, which hosts several current and past-producing base and precious metal mines. The property is two kilometres east of the past-producing Kam Kotia mine (six metric tonnes grading 1.09 per cent Cu, 1.03 per cent Zn, 3.5 g/t Ag) and 15 kilometres west of Falconbridge's giant Kidd Creek mine complex (160 metric tonnes grading 2.4 per cent Cu, 6.7 per cent Zn, 0.27 per cent Pb, 83 g/t Ag). In southern Godfrey township, a 580 metre diamond drill hole has been completed, targeted on a deep realsection IP chargeability anomaly discovered by Moneta in 1997. The hole intersected a felsic volcanic breccia sequence with minor interlayered graphitic argillite terminating in andesite. Pyrite and pyrrhotite were found to occur disseminated in the matrix of the breccia, and as clasts and rare veinlets. A down hole pulse survey has also been completed. Drilling results will be made available when received. |
