IBM is transforming itself from a hardware company to a global consulting/business solutions giant. They have the currency and the fastest way to get there is via acquisitions. Lotus was their first. And PSFT will be the next IMO. As far as a purchase price is concerned can afford to pay more than anyone else right now.
