Intel has done the gouging. AMD is sacrificing prices to gain consumer attention in CPQ's and other clone machines at Circuit City and CPU. When I think of Celeron, I equate it to the Ford Granada, Dodge K or AMC Matador. They weren't great cars at the time, but fit a niche for the budget minded, and gradually were scoffed at as mediocre products at best. Intel must be seriously worried that they opened the lowend door too wide and Socket 7 hasn't died yet. The Super7 board future clocking to 550 has assured another full year of grief for Intel on the lowend. Wait for the Intel conference call and tell me I'm wrong. AMD sales of their 350mhz chips are smoking. Look at various web vendor packages and tell me that they aren't pushing AMD 333 & 350 packages. Sure AMD is not making money in its processor division, but if it ever breaks into the business machine division to hinder Pentium II purchases, then AMD deserves an opportunity to gouge on their highend chips like Intel has all along and start making mula in that division. Frankly I believe socket7 and the Intel slot will both die closely together replaced by a once again common format socket for all vendors. What is the judge thinking right now about Intel's move to the slot format anyway?
