Very simple explanation. AOL is not on the Nasdaq.

Sure, there is a ton of retail frenzy involved with the insane runups in these stocks, but you can bet the farm it is being "helped along" by uncrupulous market makers. Like today for instance- Amazon gapped up 10 points in pre-market activity of less than 30,000 shares. Once it opened, it traded basically flat.

The market makers know the best way to advance the price is to move it up before the stock actually starts trading.

On the NYSE, they can't play that game.
