Yeah, if you look at one of the links I posted in Burke thread, the Euro is already down 5.5% vis-a-vis the yen. I have some shares in various Euro WEBS, they got a really nice pop, maybe 8%, in the past few days, wonder if that will continue.
One factor that keeps being thrown up re: our stock market going ever higher is the so-called "flight to quality," which seems to mean different things in different contexts, but the first time I heard it was 1997, in the context that Asian investors, who were afraid of Asian markets, were putting their money into ours.
Now we are hearing fears of "repatriation" of Asian money. If so, what will that do to U.S. stock market? It doesn't seem to be going into U.S. bonds lately? If I were Asian investor, I think I'd be really, really scared of U.S. market. Happy Girl's exit strategies probably won't help if you are in Jakarta or Singapore. |
