Hi El: I have the interview on tape and have been watching a replay. I thought he did pretty good. You could see that he was trying to smile - his jaw really tensed up though when they showed the clip of DELL's production facilities. I don't know WHY CNBC does stupid things like that! Sydnie also said that the street was looking for 46 cents a share! A couple of things did bother me though ...

When asked how the Christmas season went he said he couldn't comment on that because of the quiet period???? What's the quiet period got to do with that question? Couldn't he have just said that Christmas was great, but he can't comment specifically on earnings?

When asked about how high the share price could go he said that the analysts project that it could potentially reach the $50 area, but then that's just the financial analysts talking. That doesn't get me excited.

What I did like ...

He was VERY positive on 1999 and confirmed that things are going very well.

He indicated that he thought the rise in share price is justified.

Business in Asia is improving.
