3Com to Bundle Customized Version of Smith Micro Data/Fax Software
With U.S. Robotics and Courier Modem Lines

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Smith Micro Software
(NASDAQ:SMSI) today announced the extension of its existing OEM arrangement with 3Com Corporation's (NASDAQ:COMS) Personal Communications Division.

Under terms of the agreement, 3Com's RapidComm branded version of Smith Micro data/fax communications software will be included on Connections -- a software collection on CD ROM that ships with all U.S. Robotics and Courier modems.

"We are pleased that 3Com's Personal Computing Division has elected to extend our existing relationship," said William W. Smith, Jr., President and CEO of Smith Micro Software, Inc. "We continue to view 3Com's support as a significant endorsement for both the performance and quality offered by Smith Micro's communications software solutions."

"As we develop quality products, it is imperative that we bundle software packages that provide our customers with the performance, reliability and ease-of-use they've come to expect from U.S. Robotics modems," said Don Fotsch, vice president of product management for 3Com's Personal Communications Division. "Smith Micro's RapidComm products have always met our requirements in those areas and for that reason, we have opted to extend our existing bundling agreement with them."
