You just got through telling us that anything without KNI won't sell:
"No KNI compatibility = No CPU sales"

Make up your mind.

By the way, Intel doesn't get to "decide" whether or not to license KNI to AMD. If AMD wants it, they can have it (just like MMX). AMD could easily choose to support both KNI and 3DNow in its future processors. Most people probably expect this to happen, so it would hardly be considered a failure of 3DNow.
