Phillip, thanks for your reply. I must have wade through a thousand posts, and found virtually none of them dealing with substantive issues. I understand the culture of various threads, and I have no wish to change the culture of this thread. But what I found disturbing is that when I asked some pointed questions about where people saw the drivers for growth and cash flow, so few people responded. That is frightening.

A newcomer on virtually any thread is literally inundated with information when a question like mine is asked. Just try asking such a question on the TLAB or CSCO or DELL threads and you will see what I mean. But here it was almost like talking to myself.

Now I'd like to pose a question to you. What barriers to entry exist for portal companies other than brand identity. Do you feel that having an interface for which you pay extra is a viable plan given the fact that companies like Yahoo provide many of those amenities free of charge to the consumer? Put another way, does AOL provide a reasonable value added to its customer?
