Hello Jim,

Been following your conversation with Dan and am attempting to get a better understanding of your outlook from a dispensational point.

No argument from my side regarding grace as you know. The law is passe and salvation is by grace through Christ.

Regarding the use of all of the scriptures is where I seek clarification.

II Timothy 3
15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. (Old Testament leading someone to Christ)
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:..

I do not confuse the issue where vs 16 states "for doctrine" with imposing the law or ritual. The law does not save but "by the law is the knowledge of sin." Romans 3:20

Utilizing the Old Testament we can lead someone to salvation by grace through Christ. Paul as much as says so to Timothy.

I often use the law in sharing the gospel with people. If someone is not under conviction of sin in their lives I use the law as per Romans 3:20 to show that they are under sin as most I find, believe their works will save them being counted as righteousness.

If a person is already under conviction of sin in their life I don't beat them up with the law. I confirm what they believe and present grace.

What are your thoughts here?

By the way we're in a heat wave now. minus 15

John
