JOE: DC IS COOL....
>>I am not sure how much value the Direct Connect provides to people who are not in the market niches that Nextel dominates. I am not sure if it can ever become "cool". It's way too blue collar to ever become cool.>>
Joe:
This comment reveals your total lack of understanding of DC.
The same reasons that make DC attractive to blue collars workers and groups are the same that will make it "cool" for other crowds.
Have you seen the i1000 phone. NYC Radio "cool-cat-jock" Howard Stern has gone on his show nationwide to talk about DC and Nextel. Is that "cool" enough for you.
DC is that "prime differentiator" that locks the client into Nextel's network. It's the network, stupid. It's viral, sells itself and attracts curiosity everywhere you go. The i1000 with DC, emial, voicemail, zero LD charges from 30 miles south of Indy to close to St. Louis to Chicago, Milwaukee all the way to north of Madison WI now that's cool. DC being FREE is even cooler.
Sure the competition is responding with flat rates, larger local areas, etc. but the bottom line differentiator is still DC - which is perfectly suited for low Mhz, how energy, long wave/pulse lenght/duration DC. DC is the junkyard dog that's driving every PCS provider nuts.
For my money and energy, I'd much prefer a gorilla national footprint and the DC junkyard dog to occupy my wireless backyard.
Nextel may be bad and ugly, but the i1000 and DC ARE cool.....
