This week's Telephony Magazine has two good last mile articles. Perhaps we can get some sanity checks on the DOCSIS article by some of our cable modem gurus here?

The articles:

"TALK TO ME"
Enabling voice communications over DOCSIS standard cable modems,
Jim Albrycht

"THE GREAT WAIT "
Incumbents claim they've unbundled their networks, but why aren't they lining up more CLEC business?
Joan Engebretson

The second of these, "The Great Wait," offers some revelaing state-by-state agendas (Tables) and progress reports, along with a descriptive diagram (Fig 1) of a typical CLEC topology suspended from an ILEC ring/mesh.
