Do all freedom loving Americans sympathize with a system that repudiates freedom? As an American, you have the right to be able to believe, be vocal, and sympathize with unpopular views. Communism sucks, its failures are obvious. Yet I would never trespass on another American's rights to express their opinion or to point out the flaws here. Supporting dissent within the legal framework is a citizens responsibility as it reinforces everyone's rights and freedoms.
A better question might be about your phrase "all freedom loving Americans." Do you think all American's love freedom, what do they do each day to preserve and enhance it?
Just look at how few vote or maintain any vigilence of their rights to privacy. How many refuse to give something as private as their social security number to the phone company for telephone service? Freedoms are eroding daily from commercial intrusion. Your spending habits, preferences in food, clothing, magazines, travel, telephone calling patterns, earnings, investing, medical, dental, insurance and family relationships are being assembled and sold without your permission. Those who come here from lives led elsewhere, often in tyrany or opression, have a lot to tell us and we should listen with an open mind. |
