I'm surprised that someone who seems pretty savvy like yourself would put in a market order after the market close. In fact, I only executed market orders in my very first few weeks of investing, before I figured out what I was doing. You're begging to be fleeced by market makers.
I'm new to SI and what really interests me about it is the degree to which it represents a communal group of individual investors sharing advice & trying to make a profit and the degree to which it represents people trying to manipulate the market to further their own ends. Anyone on this newsgroup predicting a significant dip next week could be attempting to create that dip. Are you really putting in a market order for Monday morning, or are you just trying to shore up this thread's increasing shaky sense of confidence?
It's probably frowned upon to question poster's motives around here. I'm not really questioning yours, or the more bearish posters either. I guess I'm just surprised that there is so little acknowledgement of the subtext of all these threads, which is "to what degree is this activity manipulation, and what are the manipulator's goals?"
Personally, I think SYCR will be worth more than $3, but never $30 again. The run-up right now seems pretty arbitrary, though. They'll still announce a dismal last quarter. There has been no spin in the press about their comeback products. Softram is a joke, given the current memory prices. Windrenalin might improving caching 60-180%, but that's one of many factors in a programs preformance. Not to mention that noone has even considered that Windows '97 might have improved caching as well, making Windrenalin redundant. I believe that people who want encription software tend to be smart enough to know how to get it for free, so I doubt WinKrypt will have much impact. From what I know of CD rom titles, they are designed for 2X or 4X CD roms in order to be availible to the majority of the market; making even 8X drives redunant; who will shell out the cash for the extra speed that they will be unlikely to ever take advantage of? People with 2X cdroms can spend $99 to get a new, real 8X if they want a definite preformance boost.
These are my demons, not really my opinions, because I too am in SYCR for the relatively high price of $2.75. I'm posting this because overexuberance in this thread, as well as exaggerated pessimism, make me wonder if I'm being taken for a ride.
