I bought Intel at 148 with the view of very long term hold.
I wanted this company as a core holding. Watched it start to climb
to 155 1/2 and just smiled.
Then, the markets had 2 bad days, back to back.
I started getting the jitters.
I KNOW Intel is THEE Company. I also know that if interest rates start to go up and investors start to bail the markets en masse, then Intel is still THEE Company, just at a lot less price.
Soooo, I sold at 152 1/2.
Here's my logic in selling :

If the market continues to tank, I locked in a profit and will have a wonderful opportunity to buy at a lower price.
If the market reverses on me, I still took a profit and even if I buy at a higher price, I'm not as worried about losing out because I know that Intel will continue to rise in the future. It's not Intel I'm worried about, it's the market. We have been rising too fast. People are nervous. The slightest negative news and we're gonna tank fast.
I want to be in cash when this happens.

Regards,

Major
