If the stock is held by Schwab and they reinvest the divs, you're likely _not_ participating in the company's DRIP. Brokerage DRIPs are a different breed entirely: your stocks must still be in `street' name for those, and I don't consider them to be the same thing at all as the company DRIPs, particularly where small cash purchases are allowed with no brokerage charges in a company or trust co DRIP.
