GYMB Confirms 2 online Retail Sites
Gymboree GYMB, a retailer of high quality apparel and accessories for children ages newborn to seven years old, has opened a series of
as yet unannounced internet sites including gymboree.com, which offers its products online and
childrenplay.com -which offers access to GYMB's landmark interactive play programs for young children.

The site includes online order processing -shipping is handled by Fed Ex, a gift center and the familiar shopping cart page.

A GYMB officer confirms the company's internet presence, says online sales are going well and that the company is planning on ramping up an advertising campaign
in the next couple weeks. In addition the company is looking into the possibility of securing certain "keywords" at major un-named portals and has already partnered
with online company babycenter.com.

GYMB reported reported this AM that net sales for the five week period ended January 2, 1999 of $66.3 million, an increase of 23% from net sales of $53.9 million
for the same period last year. Total store sales for the 48 weeks ended January 2, 1999 were $427.6 million, an increase of 21% from sales of $352.7 million for the
same period last year.
