Province newspaper says MDU launches Star Choice service Star Choice Communications Inc STC Shares issued 25,628,554 Jan 6 close $2.70 Thu 7 Jan 99 In the News The Vancouver Province newspaper reports in its Thursday edition that a small, young Richmond-based satellite television service provider takes on the role of David this month as it begins a bid to knock down traditional market domination that Goliath-sized cable companies such as Rogers Cablesystems have enjoyed for years. Reporter Brian Lewis says that in launching the new service, MDU Communications becomes the latest entrant wanting a piece of the lucrative action once monopolized by the likes of Rogers and Shaw Cable until federal regulators opened the cable television marketplace to competition. MDU is going to market as a service provider for Star Choice Digital Satellite Television and it is targeting multiple dwelling units such as apartment complexes, condominiums and gated communities.
