>>"We have attempted to bridge the space between our considerable enthusiasm for uBid and the fact that the shares have appreciated by approximately 1,000 percent over the past 30 days," wrote Cohen, who made big news a couple of weeks ago when he said Amazon.com (AMZN) should be a $50 stock (or about $17 on a post-split basis).

Unlike Amazon, uBid is a Merrill Lynch customer, and it is rare, but not unheard of, for analysts at a company's underwriter to start coverage of a recent IPO at anything less than a "buy" rating.

UBid Chief Executive Greg Jones said he believes Cohen's report was fair. "Sure, we would have loved buy now, buy every time, but the reality of it is he was optimistic on our business," said Jones.<<
