Ian - 64Mb chip spot prices are climbing. This tends to support the rumour that MU is getting extra orders because the Koreans can't produce any additional 64Mb chips.

Everything I've read seems to indicate that the Korean's are still restricting memory output. Although the excess capacity is being removed it seems too much to hope for that it is suddenly all gone. Of course this business is famous for booms and bust that happen before anyone even knows about it.

As for Katherine's comments that the Chaebol's don't have the money since they are still operating at a loss, and their credit has dried up. I agree. The only place they can get money is, directly or indirectly, from the IMF, and MU is making big noises about that (to some degree rightly so - the IMF shouldn't be throwing money at Korea without some degree of certainty that they will invest it wisely). I suspect that when they actually try to get credit for capacity additions (vs tech upgrades) the IMF will put their foot down. All JMO.
