Amresco looks like an attractive play technically. But,I'm worried what might happen on the downside if the rumored buyout doesn't materialize. As an alternative I've examined AMMB calls. But they are so pricey, I'm afraid that one stands a chance to still come out a loser money even if the buyout occurs at a price around 16, since the issue will trade at a discount until the actual transaction takes place.

Here we are at approximately 12, when the same time last month the stock was at 6. Furthermore 6 was a triple from it's price 2 months earlier. Now I know that the stock has been beaten down, but this seems like a pretty remarkable comeback move.

Does anyone have an educated guess of what the stock will do if the buyout rumor is false?
