Nextel Announces Lower Long Distance Rates

MCLEAN, Va., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Nextel Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXTL) today introduced its 1999 rate plan for domestic and international landline long distance rates.

Nextel's domestic landline long distance rates are reduced to $.09 per minute for state-to-state (in-state rates vary by state) long distance calls. It also introduced new, lower international rates to frequently called countries, such as the United Kingdom, Canada, and Mexico among others.

"Nextel's landline rate plan allows all of our business customers to continue benefiting from no contract requirements and one-second rounding, while lowering customer's charges for state-to-state and international calling," said Lynn Agnes, vice president and general manager, Nextel Long Distance. "There are no gimmicks with Nextel Long Distance ... just great rates, terrific service and the added value of Nextel wireless service. In addition, Nextel customers who choose both domestic wireless and landline service will have their wireless long distance rate reduced to $.09 per minute."
