"A group led by FMR Corp. said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Thursday it holds a 10.363 percent stake in telecommunications firm WinStar Communications Inc"

The best news is, these people are WinStar customers in Boston.

Things must not be as bad as Bairdson would want everyone to believe. These guys must be pretty impressed with WinStar.

On the dilution; I doubt that the Street will look on this as bad news. It's been obvious that WinStar was going to need to raise some cash. Lucents money is to be used for the buildout and equipment; they were going to need to some how cover their general and administrative costs. If they can float common like this, I'd say that's pretty positive. IMO, beats some type of convertible deal.
