Tyan S1836DLUAN-GX "Thunder 100" dual-processor mobo I briefly reviewed the newsgroups with a deja search dejanews.com Follow the board for awhile to see the kinds of problems others are having. Do not be alarmed when you see complaints..satisfied users do not post as often. I did not see a lot of complaints. One guy had trouble with the SB live sound card on this board in Win95 and Win98...said it worked in NT. Onboard U2W SCSI and LAN make the board a good overall value vs buying the individual components. You may have trouble configuring the machine with all of the onboard components and a full load in the SIX! PCI slots. The GX chipset will support more memory than the BX. The GX will cache 2GB (I think). Tyan says this board supports 1GB. You might consider a 256 MB DIMM just in case you want to max out later. The board is extended ATX so it will not fit in all ATX cases. For good bang for the buck in a quality case go for the Supermicro case model 750 something. With all your drives and the large board you may want to look at one of the California PC cases full towers calpc.com removable storage possiblities USB Ext. Zip / Ext. Jaz 2GB Drive If I had my choice it would be the Jaz. The backup possibilities are much better. You can store Drive Image files on the JAZ, the zip is too small. Do they make an internal? My first choice is internal unless there is a need for an external. It makes for a cleaner machine. Recommendations? Add a second harddrive<g> Zeuspaul
