I look around and see Philip's curve-violating low unemployment, record high home-ownership, record low crime rates, benign disinflation, spectacular growth, unprecendented freedom and unparalleled prosperity in the greatest social experiment the world has ever seen.
You look around and see... financial collapse, all manner of bubbles popping, and some vaguely unsettling conspiracy among unnamed bankers.
So I feel relatively certain that I am indeed less fatalistic, more full of humor, and enjoyed the Foreign Affairs article less than you. Do you disagree? If so, I apologize. I'm not sure how this has anything to do with moral ascendancy however.
And by the way, I'm also not sure how your strained comparison of my activities to ethnic cleansing furthers your goal of a "polity of manners," whatever that is. |
