I disagree here. It is absolutely legal. Big Blue has practiced vendor financing for ever and ever, and this could be considered a particularly imaginative example. Finally, I wouldn't put these activities past IBM, although I do not have any smoking guns here.

In any case, it won't affect the stock price any.
