It takes 3 days to settle the sale of a transaction. All stock transactions have an order number and the stocks in your portfolio have a CUSIP number. They all link together. They make an undeniable paper trail.
The broker must be made to share some responsibility since it was their error that put the stocks in your account. You had no control over that.
If I were you, I would call them asap, tell them you want to get the account straightened out, offer to supply your "real" portfolio holdings, & if they get nasty with you, put the onus on them for negligent bookkeeping proceedures. You have a shot at NO trouble if all is done w/in 3 day settlement. They can just cancel the orders.
And find another broker.
