I am going to surprise some of you by saying that while I myself would not invest in SDRC, I may be of the opinion that you will see a decent year. I still believe that the CAD/CAM problems I alluded to are real and as yet are not being addressed. I also haven't heard how SDRC plans to address the CAD/CAM pricing issues, but that being said, 1999 and beyond will turn on PDM, an area I admit to know less and less about. The real competitor for now is Parametric, although I wouldn't be surprised to see consolidation but someone like Agile or Matrix in the camp of a stronger software sales and consulting organization. If PMTC stumbles, or if consolidation doesn't occur, you guys should be pleased with results even though I feel that the company's CAD/CAM business will not improve in the strategic US market well enough to offset the gains being made by Unigraphics and CATIA with their mid-range products. In the past year, to my knowledge in my New England territory the Artisan product has won on only two occassions, and one of those is already switching away from them. I also do not see SDRC winning often with their big product, having lost against that product only 1 time to my knowlege. I know of several SDRC houses which are currently evaluating other systems.
