< look at cisco fly > One positive point for CSCO is that they have recognized the potential of cable modems and they are promoting them and taking an active role in the technology. ASND appears to be ignoring it. It is surprising that for all of the technology areas ASND has gotten into that they have ignored this one. It was due to the screw-ups of a year ago in launching 56k and their relative ignorance of cable modems that caused me to dump ASND last summer. I used to have a dial-up connection from an Ascend ISP and now I have a Cox@home cable connection. No comparison - superior service, instant response - always on, no waiting for dialing. If you are interested, checkout the ATHM thread. I can't imagine why anyone would not jump off dial-up and get onto cable! You will see the business for telco Remote Access (a la MAX 6000) concentrators go really flat soon, if not already.
