Ram,

Isn't MP3 incorporated in Diamond's product first and caused a lot
of anxiety from the music recording industry? It is a pretty successful
product for Diamond.

I saw this one from Yahoo this morning. Someone wants to verify whether
these companies use ZOran, C-Cube or ESS's chip set in their VCD/SVCD/DVD
players manufacturing. These are all pretty famous name brand in Chinese
retail stores for consumer electronics goods.

Can someone verify if the following are using ESS's SVCD/DVD chips in their
SVCD/DVD players in China?

DASHENG, PANDA, SHANGHAI, SHINCO, SOLIVE, WYAN and ZOSON.

My friend told me the Chinese are really upset with
one US VCD chip vendor(I guess they mean C-Cube) that

(1) Interfere with its government's effort to set up
SuperVCD standard;
(2) Use Chao Ji VCD (This is not correct official name).
The correct English name should be SVCD (Super VCD).
The Chinese felt that the particular SVCD chip vendor
purposedly use Chao Ji VCD ( a sound translation of Super VCD)
in the press to confuse the market and customers.
