Well JLA, I dont expect you to comprehend the hypocrisy of Mike Huffington because you obviously were teleported to this decade from the 50s (utilizing some advanced mathematical formulas you dont understand).
However, when Huffington ran against Dianne Feinstein for Senator, a few years ago, there was speculation that he could be a gubernatorial candidate. He ran a very nasty campaign against Feinstein - she ran on her record as she always does - and he did the same old values crap, and dirt digging. Arianna Huffington did a lot of campaigning for him on the same values platform - centered around children. She did some seminars in Silicon Valley where she said somebody should stay home to take care of the kids, it is not a corporate responsibility blah blah blah. Well, heres the problem with that - houses cost $800K and up out here, schools are CRAP and have been since the republicans have been running the state so you have to send your kids to private school really, the cost of living is just too high for a one working parent household, UNLESS you do what she did and marry some rich guy. Anybody who even takes a cursory look at the quality of life in N. California knows this, and to stand up on some podium and insinuate that people work all the time out here because they dont care about their families is ignorance beyond belief.
So fast forward a few months and what do you know, Mike Huffington is gay. Hmmm I wonder which is better from a family perspective: 2 working parents that do what they can to send their kids to private school and have to resort to daycare etc but nonetheless do the best they can to spend "quality time" with their kids, OR, a wealthy couple with kids where the parents are home but the entire marriage is a sham and the kids are continually watching this lie unfold as both parents are campaigning under a "values" platform?
BTW, family values sound much better to people once they are rich. The republicans should just target rich people only, then there wouldnt be as much of an outcry. Arianna should have held her luncheons at some society gathering vs. the corporate setting that she chose, thats my opinion. |
