Yes, we like to believe that, when all established logic are of no use. Lately it has become popular to point to any new paradigm as though it were the latest of a series of Burning Bushes on the Mount.
I take it that your reference to the extensibility of this phenomenon is in no small way influenced by the looming and more profound implications of the 'net itself?
Eventually, as we become wiser, the elements in any chaos model are fractal-ized, and shaken out and deciphered, and get reduced to newly identifiable terms. Perhaps in this case it will merely be explained at some point through the use of the most transparent, albeit possibly the basest, of human descriptors. Maybe not.
In the meantime, the brokerage houses are reaping in their commissions... any way you slice it.
