You grew up in NJ and became a Cowboys fan?! Why, growing up in CT, I used to slog miles in the snow walking to Giants games at the Yale Bowl (while they were building the Meadowlands)-- no hat, no gloves, tattered boots, and vinyl jacket-- just so I could brush off a few seats as an usher for quarters and see the games for free. And during those two seasons the seats were filled to capacity and the Giants didn't win a single game. All the while I never missed a minute of the action.
OK, so I lost three toes to frostbite. OK, so I broke a few fingers and my nose breaking up a few fights. OK, so I have bladder problems from holding it in all game for fear of losing my seat if I got up. It didn't matter. For I was a true Giant fan. My friends who grew up rooting for the Cowboys, Steelers and Dolphins-- the ones with those silly Superbowl jackets, hats and t-shirts-- morons, every last one of them.
