Yes, all the big boys such as WalMart, et all will be in the business long before they can make a profit. Everyone is aware that it is mail order / direct sales model with the emphasis on distribution and inventory turn. The showroom sales was the first model. The catalog and mail order sales was the next. And the internet is just a computerization of the same model. They keep expanding their product line to try to grow revenues, but if not for using stock as currency (which Cendant made famous), they would be out of business.

At least, Amazon has a lot of cash on hand to try to become successful as measured in profitability.
