All, I don't know if anyone's interested in the blow by blow here but I know a lot of people here use this data. I sent the following reply to MS Investor.

Thanks very much for your help and reply. I'm glad you were able to find the problem. I noticed that there is data for the indicies for 1/6/99, but that there is not yet data for 12/31/98, 1/4/99, and 1/5/99. I know you are still working on this and getting everything straightened out, I just wanted to be sure that you were aware that those days are missing data. I was unsure whether resumption of the index on 1/6/99 and on might be considered to have solved and completed the problem without adding the data for the missing dates.
