I think the reason for this purchase is to diversify into new media in efforts to try and at least hedge their risks and generate other revenue streams. It will also give them some key industry contacts and wider US exposure. Did anyone see the article in the post regarding Australian billionaire Kerry Packer purchasing the Melbourne casino and plans on opening a virtual casino? It seems online gaming is seeing more wider, institutional recognition as a viable, growth segment.
