HI Barry : Refunds, well the normal way and fair way it goes is
like this, you get a discount buying a year..I don't know how
ALO or if they do this..I can fnd out and would if I had reason too.
But this will do..local ISP, (as a avg) charge 25 per month, by the
month or 19.95 if you pay for a year ( say $20 ) so your saving
$5 a month with a yearly rate..all of them will let you cancel
( all I'v seen anyway ), now you get paid back or credit back
to you card, for the unused time..how ever if you got the $5 discount,
and you cancel say in 3 months, you pay for the 3 months at the
regular monthly rate..or any time pior to the year, cancel service
should charge you the monthly rate and I have no problem with that.
so say I cancel after 6 mo..I don't expect them to pro rate it,
but to charge me 25x6 or $150, and refund the rest..$90..thats
fair enough..after all I'm pulling out early..and ever Local ISP
I'v found is more than willing to do it that way.
Now with hoovers there was a comunacation problem, I canceled but
the bill kept coming, hmmm..3 mo the bill came..that was enough for
me..I called..and said hey I canceled 3 mo ago..what's happening,
they were real nice and my next visa showed the credit for the 3
mo..now mind you once I canceled I did not use the service..
AOL users tring to cancel or wanting a refund, must stop using
the service ( I'm not being a spokes man here for AOL )..but the
fact is they can show when you used it last, and can stand on that
even if it was the one and only time you could get on out of a
hundred tries..if you got on you used it..and they will argue that
point..even if it's not fair. So if you want off, don't use it at
all, and they will have to refund from the portion from the last
time you used it, you can make them do that, or make them wish
they had have..;-)
But the attitude they took "no Refunds" ..could give you a valid
reason to use. ( providing you have requested off, "tape it" )
as you can argue back to the point of the day he said no refunds,
so what were you to do..that will be to the judge in your area,
I already know I would win..as I know my judge..not as a favor
mind you, I know how he sees things..some other judge may see it
another way..all I would have to do is prove I requested off,
from that point on, and withy the no refund statment from Steve
my service if I got any would be free..as a gratitude of my
being understanding..and my waiting for the refund..I could
insist I had the right to use..but that's not my style..if I
requested refund..that would be that..no game..give me my money
back and I want it now.
