To All, PC Data said computer shipments, which they call sales, increased 40% in December. Now we know why IBMs are selling for $499. Of course, they consider adding to this glut a bullish thing, but it is really a disaster and they just don't get it. Shipments by Compaq to Ingram mean nothing. Shipments from Ingram to Best Buy mean nothing. Sales to customers at Best Buy mean something and that is where the system is breaking down.

Also, don't be confused. This is just retail, the smaller part of the picture. Business boxes ain't selling for squat.
