Anthony did a good job of answering your question....let me add a thing or two.....If you have a company that you shorted that goes to "0" bid (Lucky you).....and you decide not to cover and take on the risks that it will never come back to trade (zzz best).....You just never cover....The big bonus here is that since you havent closed out the position, you have no taxable gain....thus no taxes.....Big time win without the consequences of a taxable gain (One of the few remaining loopholes...have to be super lucky....doesnt happen often)..... I believe im correct on that, but would like an expert accountant to tell me if im 100% correct.... mike
