Today I went to a local computer shop to see if
1...... they would build what I wanted
2.......if it would be cheaper for me to buy parts & put together myself

Here is a list of parts that we came up with that they will use/what I thought
were the best options they offered

case...enlight,mid,7 bay,atx
supermicro P6SBA,P11,BX,ATX
Intel P11 350
128MB,sdram,PC-100
Western Digital AC36400 , 6.4 GB, UIDE
Mitsumi 1.44 MB, 3.5 "
Mitsumi 32X IDE, CDRN
Sound blaster AWE 64 Value
Millenium G200, 8 MB, AGP
Fax/MDM , USR, 56K voice, V 90 Int
Windows 98 or NT, OEM CD

5 years labor 3 years parts + Tech support

Total ............$ 1129

The way that they explained it was that both the sound card & modem
went in to (ISA slots I think) and that the video card used the AGP slot

The mother board has 4 PCI slots (none of which are in use with the above parts)

My goal is to have 3 monitors on this machine
here are my comments so that you guys have a little more background
hard drive size is more than I need so that's fine
CD ROM is only going to be used for installing software
sound card ....all I need is a few beep's and buzzes so that's fine

Millenium G200 can be use for multiple monitors under 98 or NT (I think)
I just bought 3 new monitors so they will all be set the same

I would really like to go with NT, but you guys sure make it sound scary <VBG>
Have never used NT
I will be able to set up 3 monitors under NT right ? I remember someone posting that the drivers for Matrox will support up to 5 monitors

Sorry this was so long or if there are to many questions here but I would never
tell them to build this puter without checking with you guys first !!
This thread is great, and one of the most useful here on SI

PS ..... the case .....after I add 2 G200 PCI cards I will more than likely never see the inside again !

Thanks for any and all comments

Alf
