What will you use on the system (always the first question.) Any games, or just business?
The main use for this machine will be StockEdge online / Tradewind for charts
mIRC Netscape/Opera for the net (I don't do a lot of surfing during the day,unless I get bored)
I have never played games on computers other than blackjack
It will have some other junk on there but nothing critical

I'd consider a PCI soundcard .....since it would use fewer system resources and likely
cause less headaches under NT.

Other PCI slot might house a network card, especially if cable or DSL modems are in
your future (and if you use your PC for trading, they probably should be
Cable is an option down the road and if I do end up with cable 2 computers will be networked

Current favorite for price/performance is the BH6
That was my first choice also and will try to convince them to use that board :-)

I was on the USR site and from what I can tell there are 2 different modems
1 goes in to an ISA slot the other uses a PCI slot
Is there a difference in performance ?

I spent a few hours checking out prices on different sites (all recommended here)
and for the most part it would not be worth it for me to assemble myself for a number of reasons / shiping / parts from different vendors / and the fact that I have never done it before :-)
