wily,

I do not discount this very knowledgeable source, just my .02, and if my comments can be clarified it would be greatly appreciated...

To the extent that RDRAM prices are more than 50% higher than SDRAM producers will divert production to RDRAM as it will be more profitable.

Assuming that there is significant demand from OEM's

This will enable them to compute a profit per wafer. They will increase the number of the more profitable wafers and decrease the number of the less profitable wafers.

MU must still produce what the OEM's want whether that particular chip is the most profitable or not. If it was that easy, then the DRAM business would always be profitable, no?

But RDRAM will always remain 25-50% higher than SDRAM because it costs more to make that the manufacturer needs the maximum profit he can get per wafer.

So is this good for MU or any DRAM manu?
